Does Central Europe have its own, specific language? This and other questions will be discussed during the 2nd edition of Central European Dictionary of Political Concepts, held on 12-14 November in Cracow, Poland. The aim of the programme is to distinguish and examine various political concepts in a group of forty scholars, writers and journalists from Visegrad Group countries. This year’s edition will take under consideration universal terms through Central European context. The result will be a book publication Central European Dictionary of Political Concepts.
The conference is divided into eight sections: Solidarity in Times of Crisis, Regional Geopolitics, Use, Abuse, Misuse – The Role of Art and Architecture in Cultural Policies, Ecology, Confederations and Post-imperialism, East Orientalism,Civil Religion and Security. Starting with a cluster of concepts, participants will attempt to clarify how specific regional terms translate into global public discourse (e.g. defining what is left and right on the political scene of CE, and determining how such distinctions ought to be understood beyond the region). Book publication will be later edited by Marcin Moskalewicz and Wojciech Przybylski – editors of the Central European Dictionary of Political Concepts.
The 2nd edition of Central European Dictionary of Political Concepts is funded by the International Visegrad Fund visegradfund.org. The conference will take place in Villa Decius Conference Centre in Cracow.
